Microsoft released Outlook 15 for Mac 3-1/2 months ago to its Office 365 Exchange Online customers. Prior to that I had some foresight this new version would break a script I wrote originally for Microsoft Entourage and later Outlook for Mac. The script enabled administrators to help their users configure Exchange settings in environments where Autodiscover didn’t work.
In early September 2014, I posted a survey and solicited responses from Mac admins who used this . . .

Outlook for Mac has never had an automatic archiving feature. And it still doesn’t. Emily D posted the following solution on Microsoft Answers today for Exchange repeatedly losing connecton to server. Visit this link to join in the discussion.
We disabled EWS Digest Authentication in our Exchange server over the weekend. So far, Outlook 2011 on a MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro has stayed connected to Exchange without a disconnect or prompt for password. If the lid of the laptop is closed and then reopened, Outlook 2011 reconnects . . .

Mac Admins, if you’re currently using any version of my Outlook for Mac Exchange Setup Script, I need your responses. The script I’m referencing is available at these two locations:
Version 4.0.1 – http://www.officeformachelp.com/outlook/exchange/setup-script/ Version 4.5.2 – https://github.com/talkingmoose/Outlook-Exchange-Setup
Some planned changes in Outlook for Mac will break the automatic setup portion of the script and I will not be able to create a workaround for it. If you rely on this feature of the script, . . .

Preface: A big thank you to Patrick Fergus for his efforts and this article! He worked diligently with Microsoft support for several months to troubleshoot an issue that was effectively causing an internal Denial of Service (DoS) attack against his company’s firewall. The culprit? Outlook for Mac. And while working with Patrick, Microsoft discovered a second major issue with excessive open files caused by the licensing system in Office for Mac. His work contributed to . . .

Support personnel who attempted to follow instructions for filtering Exchange logs with Outlook for Mac more than likely found the results far from useful. This was because the original instructions were incorrect. Microsoft has updated its Turn logging on or off in Outlook for Mac 2011 page with corrected information.

Update: After a few comments from folks saying they are not seeing issues I retested syncing on a clean install of Mountain Lion and Office 14.2.3. Indeed, they’re correct. Syncing between Outlook for Mac and Mountain Lion’s Calendar and Contacts applications is working as expected. Although, I made efforts to test carefully the first time I can only assume I made a mistake in my efforts. Apologies to anyone I’ve misled.
Today, on my . . .
