What does Entourage for Exchange Web Services mean for you?

Earlier this week the Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU) at Microsoft announced Entourage for Exchange Web Services (EWS). MacBU expects to release a “public beta” for this new version of Entourage later this month. This version of Entourage will finally deliver some of the most highly requested features for Exchange users–specifically synchronization of tasks, notes and categories.

Entourage requires Legacy Applications software for functionality with Exchange Server 2007

Businesses are slow to adopt new technologies. They need time and resources to test and deploy updates and upgrades to prevent adversely affecting the core tools of their organization.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 is one of these new technologies and is only just beginning to be deployed in corporate envionments. I’ve now seen two reports where a default installation of the server software does not support Microsoft Entourage 2004.
