When’s the next version of Office for Mac coming out? v2

Now that Yosemite is out users are asking “When is the next version of Office going to be released?” Considering Office for Mac 2011 shipped in October 26, 2010 a new version is long overdue.

Back in 2012, Bill Smith predicted ” “…I’ll predict Microsoft to ship Office for Mac 2014 in October 2013.”. So much for predictions even based on good evidence.

Microsoft releases Office for Mac 2011 14.4.5 Update

Microsoft has released the Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 14.4.4 Update. (113.6 MB) Installation requires first installing the cumulative 14.1.0 (SP1) update if running an earlier version of Office for Mac 2011. According to the new update’s description it addresses a security issue and fixes for Outlook, one of which is specific to Apple’s new OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) release.

We disabled EWS Digest Authentication in our Exchange server over the weekend. So far, Outlook 2011 on a MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro has stayed connected to Exchange without a disconnect or prompt for password. If the lid of the laptop is closed and then reopened, Outlook 2011 reconnects . . .
