Microsoft releases Office for Mac 2011 14.3.9 Update

Microsoft has released the Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 14.3.9 Update. (113.3 MB) Installation requires first installing the cumulative 14.1.0 (SP1) update. According to the new update’s description it fixes stability issues with Outlook and Word and adds new functionality.

Fixes include:

  • Outlook – Defaults Yahoo! Mail and Outlook.com accounts to use IMAP instead of POP when adding accounts.
  • Outlook – Enables Exchange account users to decide whether to send read receipts. Applies to Exchange Server 2007 and higher including Office 365.
  • Outlook  – Improves conversation threading by using In-Reply-To and Reference fileds in mail headers.
  • Outlook  – Addresses an issue where Outlook would not connect to an Exchange server through certain proxy servers.
  • Word  – Fixes a crashing issue when launching the Polish edition of Word on OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).

Users should quit all Office applications and web browsers prior to updating. This update is also available via the Microsoft AutoUpdate application. Select Check for Updates from the Help menu. It is also available for immediate download.
