Microsoft releases Office for Mac 2011 14.3.6 Update

Microsoft has released the Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 14.3.6 Update. (113 MB) Installation requires first installing the cumulative 14.1.0 (SP1) update. According to the new update’s description it addresses two Outlook and one Word fixes.

The update addresses an Outlook issue where the application would attempt to repeatedly send a message even when the message exceeded the server’s message size limits. This had the potential to block other outgoing messages sent later. Outlook will now attempt to send the message three times and finally move it the Drafts folder.

It also addresses an Outlook issue where the application would freeze when attempting to synchronize a message folder that had many messages deleted on a different client.

In some instances Word would not save files to an SMB file share on a server. This update enables saving Word documents when they reside on Windows (SMB) file shares.

Users should quit all Office applications and web browsers prior to updating. This update is also available via the Microsoft AutoUpdate application. Select Check for Updates from the Help menu. It is also available for immediate download.
