Warning: Issues with Yahoo and ATT IMAP accounts after upgrading to 14.2.5

Users are reporting that after upgrading to 14.2.5, their Yahoo and ATT IMAP accounts in Outlook 2011 were exhibiting odd behavior in the Inbox.

Some or all emails in the Inbox were deleted from Outlook and/or the server when connecting. Deleting emails caused some or all Inbox messages to delete. When synchronized even deleted were returned. . . .

Problems when using contractions

ISSUE: When typing contractions in Outlook you will see them show as misspelled along with other odd behavior like beeping, window losing focus and not being able to enter any new characters. These are two separate issues: 1) auto capitalization, changing I’ll into I’Ll and 2) false spell check underline.

Outlook rebuild results in folders named Recovered

This article is going to focus on the issue where your folders have the generic name “Recovered Folder” after rebuilding. Basics for a Successful Rebuild

The Database Utility is used to create, delete, set default identity and rebuild an identity. To access the Database Utility, hold down the Option key when launching Outlook. You can also find the Database Utility in the Microsoft Office 2011 folder in the Office folder.

/Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Office/Microsoft Database Utility.app

Office 2011 applications fail to work with volumes named ‘home’

Office for Mac 2011 users may experience a problem when attempting to access documents on file shares or local hard drives simply named “home” (all lower case). This issue affects Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Outlook for Mac, which only supports locally stored identities, is not affected.
