The new Share option in iPhoto is not recognizing either Entourage or Outlook for Mac as an option to email photos. However you can add your Entourage or Outlook email address to send using Share in iPhoto.
- Open iPhoto v9.4.1 in Mountain Lion
- Select photo to share.
- Click on share icon (bottom right)
- Select Email
- A message window with “To” appears, your only options are to use an email account in Apple Mail.
- In iPhoto preferences > Accounts, add your email used in Entourage and Outlook and it will send.
Note: This option does not save the sent photo in your email account. I thought this might end up adding the account to Apple Mail, but it does not. It’s not showing up in System Preferences > Mail, Contacts & Calendars either. I have no record in Outlook of the sent mail. I then tested using an email account in Mail and the sent message does not show up in Mail either.
Sending from Outlook using iPhoto
To send using Outlook, open iPhoto Preferences and select to send directly from Outlook. At this time, I’m not sure it’s possible to send directly from Entourage.
Select image to send using Share > Email
Select image size then select Compose Message.

This is not what I see. When I click top share via email, it prompts me to select a service: iCloud, hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, or other.
Nothing happens as you suggest it here. I don’t see a way to send via Outlook unless you use “other” and input server preferences there, and even then Im’ not sure how well that is going to work.
Using iPhoto as your option to send photos, does not give you any Outlook email choices choices by default. Select “Other” and enter email address you use in Outlook. There is no confirmation email or record in Outlook. Same behavior in Mail.
If you want to send using Outlook rather than using iPhoto to send, select this option in Preferences > General: Email photos using
I must say it’s odd & confusing using iPhoto as “email client”.
I’m having the same issue as John. On research, its an issue with iPhoto version 9.4. Does anyone know a work around?
Use the “Other” option and enter your account. It sends via iPhoto not through either Apple Mail or Outlook.
