Word 2011 slow after upgrading to Lion

Some users are reporting Office for Mac Word 2011 is slow to open after upgrading to Lion. The following tips have help users.

Delete duplicate fonts installed by Office 2011: The following fonts in the Library/Fonts/Microsoft folder are duplicated in Library/Fonts with a newer version of the same font. Remove these fonts in Library/Fonts/Microsoft folder. Font Book isn’t smart, it will delete the duplicate you haven’t been using even if it is an older version)

Sale Prices for Microsoft Office for Mac- is it time to upgrade?

Before moving to Lion, you will need to upgrade Microsoft Office for Mac X and 2004. Lion will not run PowerPC applications. Both Office X and Office 2004 are PowerPC. Office X users need to consider that at sometime, you will not be able to upgrade to a newer mail client. If your computer dies and you purchase a new computer that only runs Lion, you import options will be severely limited. See “Tips” below.

The US makes the switch to Daylight Saving Time Sunday, November 6, 2011. If you use Entourage or Outlook for Mac, you’ll need to quit and relaunch before it recognizes the time change.
