Use Outlook for Mac’s advanced logging for Exchange troubleshooting

My friend Rich Kmieciak at Microsoft pointed me to an obscure article on their website about filtering log information when troubleshooting Exchange connectivity with Outlook for Mac. I’ve taken the article and added a few details of my own to create a new page that explains how to enable some advanced logging features and how to read the log files.

The new page should be of use to administrators and support personnel who have users experiencing issues with:

  • Autodiscover
  • Folder and item synchronization (mail, contacts, tasks, notes)
  • Calendar
  • LDAP connectivity

Logging will not provide step-by-step instructions for how to fix an issue but it can provide some valuable insight from the client side of things.
