Unable to establish a secure connection warning continues for some users

Some Entourage users are continuing to see the following warning error after updating to 12.1.3.

Unable to establish a secure connection to xxxxx.com because the server name or IP address does not match the name of IP address on the server’s certificate.
If you continue, the information you view and send will be encrypted, but will not be secure.

See Amir’s blog post SSL Warning Issue in Entourage 2008 for help and more details on this problem.

  • Turns out that Amir is only focused on when you’re running an Exchange server. My situation is that I am running a NetBSD server running sendmail (typical Linux setup), with Entourage 12.1.7 on my Mac and I still get the above error, even when I validate my brand new SSL certificate and everything is fine, domain name and IP match, etc.
I have dug and dug and cannot find any information about resolving this problem for those of us who are seeking to use SSL to connect to our non-Exchange mail servers.
Do you have a link, pointer, or some suggestions to help out?
    Thanks!

  • Sorry, I don’t. You might ask on the microsoft.public.exchange.admin newsgroup.
