Disappearing Gmail

I’m one of the many Entourage users that have a Gmail account. I’ve been reading the Gmail support forums and have run across some troubling news about disappearing emails. The problem is not happening within Entourage but with Gmail’s service.

Comcast spam filter blocks mail from ‘Me’

Diane and I were subscribed to several of the same mailing lists and we were both having problems for weeks seeing our own messages reach the mailing lists. Neither of us had adjusted our E-mail settings but yet we were both seeing the same strange problem. I found the cause this morning. It was Comcast’s spam filter.

Should MacBU reinvent Entourage?

Software companies sometimes reinvent their products. For example, Adobe did that with their page layout application PageMaker and today ships InDesign. This was largely due to Quark entering the market and recognizing their customers were needing more than a computerized version of the old pasteboard and X-acto knife. Quark offered the extensibility of automation, workflows and database integration that took their customers to the next level—sort of a Page Layout 2.0.

Leopard update breaks Entourage support for Exchange SSL root certificates

Apple released Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) a week ago and for the most part Entourage 2004 is “very compatible” according to There’s a new cat in town on Microsoft’s Mac Mojo blog. However, they also acknowledge that they discovered some code in their Leopard testing and will be releasing an update “shortly”.

Most of the Entourage trouble reports that I’ve read in the Apple and Microsoft online forums are anecdotal but one Exchange bug . . .
